How to Choose Among the Three Route Types
Route type determines the stability, latency and cost of your cross-border connection. Understanding how each works and then matching it to your use case beats trial and error.
IEPL Dedicated Line
Point-to-point enterprise-gradeIEPL (International Ethernet Private Line) is a point-to-point enterprise-grade circuit provided by carriers, with dedicated bandwidth between both ends that is not shared with other users. During peak congestion hours (19:00–23:00), speed fluctuation on dedicated lines is noticeably smaller than on shared routes, so video calls and file transfers are far less likely to drop.
Best for stability-sensitive use cases: cross-border work, video conferencing, AI tool access and evening streaming. Because procurement and maintenance costs are higher than relay or direct routes, dedicated lines are mainly deployed in key hubs such as Hong Kong and Singapore — limited in number but consistently reliable, and the first choice during peak hours.
Relay
Wide coverage · Great valueRelay routes forward traffic through one or more intermediate nodes. Scheduling is flexible, switching between multiple upstreams based on real-time conditions, so availability is backed by smart routing. Relay is the most widely covered route type and the default option in most regions.
Suited to everyday browsing, email, social apps and streaming. Cost sits between dedicated and direct routes, offering strong value; peak-hour stability depends on the quality and load of intermediate nodes, so keep one or two backup routes and switch manually if you hit fluctuations.
Direct
Short path · Low latencyDirect routes exit straight into the destination region with no intermediate forwarding, giving the shortest path. When routing is healthy, direct routes usually deliver the best latency, making them ideal for latency-sensitive, real-time use cases.
Best for gaming, low-latency apps and occasional access. Direct routes are the cheapest, but quality depends on local carrier routing and can fluctuate at peak hours — try several backups rather than sticking to one long-term.
No single type is universally best: choose IEPL dedicated lines when stability comes first, relay when you want coverage and value, and direct when latency matters most. You can switch with one tap in the client, so there's no need to stay locked to one route.

Browsing and social apps
Web browsing, email and social apps don't demand much from a route, so prioritize one near you. A relay or direct route in Asia-Pacific that loads quickly is all you need — no need to chase dedicated lines.
Watching Netflix, YouTube and more
Streaming demands bandwidth and stability, especially during evening peaks. Hong Kong, Singapore and US routes have the most complete Netflix and YouTube support, so prioritize IEPL dedicated lines to reduce buffering and quality drops.
Accessing ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini
AI services need a stable cross-border connection; frequent drops break your workflow. Hong Kong, US and Japan routes already support these services, so choose IEPL dedicated lines to stay usable even at peak hours.
Online gaming and low-latency apps
Gaming is latency-sensitive, so the simplest move is a direct route in the same region as the game server: Japan direct for Japanese servers, US direct for US servers. Switch to a backup if routing fluctuates.
Video conferencing and cross-border work
Video conferencing values stability over speed — one drop can make you miss something important. For meetings across time zones, prioritize IEPL dedicated lines in the Hong Kong and Singapore hubs, and switch to the steadiest route before the call starts.

Route FAQ
Is this page the complete list of routes?
No. This page shows representative routes and type distribution per region so you can understand the network structure. The list in the client updates as new routes come online, and the client is always the source of truth.
Why do some streaming services show 'In Progress'?
Disney+ and HBO are still being integrated and are marked with an amber badge in the route table and client. Netflix and YouTube are already available and work normally; once integration finishes, the status will update to Available.
Which route type is most stable during peak hours?
IEPL dedicated lines are point-to-point enterprise-grade circuits with dedicated bandwidth, so they hold up better than relay or direct routes during peak hours. For stability-sensitive use cases, choose IEPL dedicated lines first.
Do I pay extra to switch routes?
No. Both subscription plans and data packs include route access, so you can switch freely in the client with unlimited simultaneous devices.
